  • PennDOT crews are repairing Rt. 30 near Downingtown after a roadway collapsed on Tuesday due to a pipe failure rather than a sinkhole — drivers face a closed left lane until March 24 as repairs depend on weather conditions.  6abc Philadelphia

  • Patti McComsey marked 45 years at Citadel Credit Union and still leads the Downingtown branch she helped launch — starting her career as a high school student and guiding the bank through changes in digital banking to better serve local members.   • Local farms are bypassing middlemen to sell directly to schools and institutions; Jake and Becky Yohe of Spring Hope Farm in Nottingham deliver between 100 and 150 pounds of ground beef monthly to nearby school districts through the Pennsylvania Beef Council program—a trend that has grown into a $14 billion industry.  VISTA Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • West Chester University welcomed state rep Chris Pielli as its Legislative Fellow for spring; he will work with faculty and 22 students in a 300-level Pennsylvania Government and Politics class to share his experience. The fellowship program, started in 2001, gives students firsthand insight into government operations—helping them learn about public policy and the legislative process.  VISTA Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Josh Shapiro said he helped unfreeze $2.1 billion in federal funds during his White House visit on Feb. 21 and announced on Feb. 24 that the funds were restored—while a White House spokesperson disputed his role, stating the funds were reviewed as part of a government-wide process.  The Philadelphia Inquirer

SPORTS NEWS

  • All-Star Sports Academy in West Chester is seeking acquisitions to expand its training centers outside the Philadelphia region. CEO Vince Russomagno Sr. said the academy plans to grow from seven to up to 30 locations in the next few years along the I+95 corridor from Long Island to Baltimore.  VISTA Today
  • Westtown School's Jordyn Palmer was named Gatorade Girl’s Basketball Player of the Year for a second time after leading her team to a state championship win and a fifth straight league victory. The sophomore averaged 21.6 points and 10.5 rebounds this season and will compete in the Chipotle Nationals semifinals on April 4—her strong performance also included scoring 26 points in a recent game.  VISTA Today
