- ➤ Benjamin Franklin owned two 200-acre parcels in southern Chester County as a representative of the Philadelphia Post Office, but there is no proof he ever visited the area (the land was in New London). Local records note his ownership (per Chester County Archives) even though his contemporary George Washington did sleep at Valley Forge. VISTA Today
