  • Chester County Parks and Preservation and the Friends of Springton Manor Farm will host Nature’s Aglow: Luminary Holiday Stroll (free family event) on December 12th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Springton Manor Farm (860 Springton Road), offering illuminated trails, seasonal crafts, a Santa visit, and treats.  MyChesCo
  • Historic downtown West Chester glows with over 80,000 holiday lights as the Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends event begins on Black Friday and runs through New Year’s Day. More than 40,000 people will visit the free festivities that will include Victorian caroling on Small Business Saturday and a Christmas parade on December 5th — supporting local shops and small businesses.  MyChesCo

BUSINESS NEWS

  • For nearly 80 years, Herr’s Snacks has made chips, pretzels, and other snacks in Nottingham while its factory in Chester County works non-stop to send over 300 million bags around the world. CEO Troy Gunden said the business began in 1946 with a small company (using two kettles and an old truck) and has grown by using quality ingredients.  VISTA Today
  • The LionCage Pitch Competition held at the Conference Center at Penn State Great Valley on November 14 awarded $35,000 to 9 winning entrepreneurs from southeastern Pennsylvania — more than 150 local leaders supported the event.  VISTA Today
  • Local winery Va La Vineyards produced small-batch French and Italian wines on its seven-acre Avondale property—owner Anthony Vietri cared for the vines and pruned fruit trees while planning future varietals. The family-run farm offered group tastings in a century-old barn with local cheeses and chocolates and featured weekly performances by pianist Glenn E. Williams.  VISTA Today

CULTURE NEWS

  • Chester County barns show a unique English style that dates back to 13th century England—cone-shaped supports reduced damage from carts and saved on building time. Local resident Warren Claytor restored his 1870 barn on a 16.8-acre farm in Willistown Township to preserve the original stone walls and iconic design.  VISTA Today
  • The Wayne Oratorio Society will perform Handel’s Messiah on December 6 and December 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Wayne Presbyterian Church (125 E. Lancaster Avenue). The free performance will feature a 150-member chorus, a 40-piece orchestra, and distinguished soloists, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.  MyChesCo
  • West Chester University’s Department of Theatre & Dance is staging Little Women, The Broadway Musical at the E.O. Bull Center for the Arts from today through November 23 — guest director Amy Dugas Brown leads the production — with evening shows at 7:30 p.m. on November 20, 21 and 22 and a matinee at 2:00 p.m. on November 23; tickets cost $14 to $24 with discounts available.  MyChesCo

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Immaculata University will host a festive Christmas meet and greet on Dec. 4 from 6-8 p.m. in the historic Great Hall where prospective students can tour decorated spaces — enjoy holiday treats and obtain admissions guidance.  VISTA Today

HEALTH NEWS

  • Inspections by the Chester County Health Department on Nov 18 revealed serious food safety violations at several West Chester restaurants, including spoiled food, unsafe temperature controls and sanitation lapses. One establishment reported a cockroach infestation — leading officials to require immediate corrections before the holiday rush.  MyChesCo

SPORTS NEWS

  • Eastern University’s football team claimed the Middle Atlantic Conference championship with a 16-10 win over Stevenson on Saturday in its third season and will play Franklin & Marshall in the NCAA Division III playoffs on Nov. 29. Coach Billy Crocker praised the team’s grit while quarterback Brett Nabb led the offense with 104 rushing yards and 137 passing yards.  VISTA Today
