EDUCATION NEWS

  • Leaders from Penn State Brandywine, Widener and Delaware County Community College met on Oct. 31 to discuss working together to support local students and businesses. They planned to share resources and rebuild respect for education—aiming to strengthen college partnerships in the area.  VISTA Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • This fall, the Circuit Trails Coalition reached a 500-mile milestone by completing over 420 miles and developing nearly 91 more — the network connects communities across Philadelphia and South Jersey. The coalition will add 50 new miles by 2030 and is backed by renewed funding to expand safe commuting and recreation.  VISTA Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Business U.S. 322 on High Street in West Chester and West Goshen will have lane closures next week from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 17 to Friday, November 21 — a $2.6 million PennDOT project adding new traffic signals, pedestrian timers and LED lights — with Marino Corporation managing work that will continue through winter as weather permits.  MyChesCo
  • Drivers should expect delays next week as PennDOT begins resurfacing and repair projects in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester and Delaware counties. Line painting in Philadelphia will occur from November 17 to November 21—while lane closures with flagging in Bucks, Chester and Delaware counties aim to improve road safety.  MyChesCo

HEALTH NEWS

  • Layoffs at Pottstown Hospital have raised worries among lawmakers who said local residents might now have to travel 20 to 30 minutes for essential care—Tower Health cut 350 jobs to halve a $40 million annual loss and reinvest in services.  VISTA Today
  • Federal health officials said parents in Pennsylvania and New Jersey must discard all ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula—part of a nationwide recall after 23 infants in 13 states were hospitalized with infant botulism since August. The New York-based manufacturer recalled the product after tests found botulism bacteria on an open can—no national shortage is expected due to its small market share.  FOX 29
  • Inspections by the Chester County Health Department on November 12th and 13th found widespread food safety issues at several local restaurants, including poor food handling, unsanitary conditions + improper storage that risk public health. Officials ordered repairs and extra staff training at establishments such as Double D Diner and Westminster Presbyterian Church to address these violations.  MyChesCo
