COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Citadel Credit Union donated $30,000 to area food banks and launched a month-long food drive to help families affected by reduced SNAP benefits from the government shutdown—community members are encouraged to drop off nonperishable items at any of the 24 branches. Donations will support food pantries across Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Montgomery and Philadelphia.  VISTA Today

CULTURE NEWS

  • Longwood Gardens will reopen its popular holiday display on November 21—featuring glittering trees, glowing lights, and gemstone-inspired decor in the conservatories. The event will include a 12-foot tree with a ruby-red bow, over 500,000 lights, a Meadow Tunnel of Lights, a Garden Railway, and live performances on select nights.  VISTA Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • West Chester University announced the launch of its School of Nursing to begin in January 2026 as part of its 50+ years of nursing excellence—more than 100 alumni, students and staff gathered on Oct. 25 to celebrate the milestone and look ahead to a new chapter in healthcare education.  VISTA Today
  • Sue and Frank Mattei chaired the 2025 Laughs for Literacy event for Partners in Outreach, leading efforts that reached over 200 students and distributed more than 4,000 books—boosting local literacy programs. The longtime supporters encouraged community members to volunteer and further support these programs.  VISTA Today
  • Immaculata University will host a Fall Open House on Nov. 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.—high school students and transfer candidates can visit Villa Maria Hall to enjoy a buffet breakfast and guided campus tours while meeting with admissions counselors about academic programs.  VISTA Today

SPORTS NEWS

  • After a successful first run this year, organizers plan to double the field to 2,500 runners for the Delco 10-Miler in 2026. They may move the race to October to avoid a date conflict with the Philadelphia Distance Run—registration will open in January.  The Philadelphia Inquirer
