- ➤ USDA data shows that in Fiscal Year 2024, 15.3% of Pennsylvania residents—about 2 million people—received SNAP benefits monthly while 827,000 residents in New Jersey received them; Pennsylvania stopped issuing payments on Oct. 16 and state officials said that resuming benefits and any back pay will depend on when the federal government reopens.
