  • Former NFL player Jon Dorenbos—also a magician—spoke at Firstrust Bank’s employee meeting and Lunch with Legends event where he told of overcoming personal loss and building his success on hard work and resilience. He stressed that facing tough times by staying prepared can help everyone get through challenges.  VISTA Today
  • 95-year-old designer Stan Herman is leaving QVC after thirty-two years, where he sold millions of products and earned a nickname as the King of Chenille. QVC will honor his career with an hour-long show on November 11—Herman plans to retire and finish his next book in retirement.  VISTA Today
  • Wawa is drawing customers from Burger King, Wendy’s and Starbucks by serving high-quality, built-to-order food that builds a loyal fan base — its warm service and organic growth are fueling expansion across Delaware County and beyond. The chain continues to succeed even as prices have risen since 2019.  VISTA Today
  • Main Line Health made a $4M profit after a $61M loss last year and plans to open a new outpatient center in Devon this December. The health system will add centers in Exton and Caln Township under CEO Edward Jimenez—bringing care closer to where people live.  VISTA Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • CCOIC launched its Fall Work Enclave program today to offer five weeks of paid training, career coaching, and community engagement for seven new participants who will earn a National Retail Federation Customer Service Certification and receive resume and interview coaching. Classes run Monday through Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. — the program also includes hands-on sessions on conflict resolution, teambuilding, networking, and civic engagement.  VISTA Today
  • Leah Cramer and Lauren Klunk, the first graduates of the DCCC/Downingtown Teacher Academy, were hired by Downingtown Area School District this fall to begin their teaching careers. The one-year dual enrollment program gave them 13 college credits and field observation experience to help address the teacher shortage.  VISTA Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kimble Farm owners signed a sales agreement with Rutter’s to sell about 100 acres pending approval from the township board, planning commission, and zoning hearing board—residents oppose the plan because they worry it will bring more trucks and increased traffic through West Nottingham Township.  VISTA Today

HEALTH NEWS

  • Aqua Pennsylvania is replacing lead and galvanized service lines in West Chester and nearby areas to protect public health — hundreds of lines have been updated with $4.25 million in PENNVEST funds, and the project, which began in 2016, will continue to meet EPA rules while keeping costs low.  VISTA Today

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Eagles will miss wide receiver AJ Brown, center Cam Jurgens, cornerback Adoree Jackson, and linebacker Azeez Ojulari for Sunday’s game against the Giants because of injuries, and coach said that Brandon Graham and full-participant Jakorian Bennett will not return until after the bye week — the team did not have full practice this week.  FOX 29
