  • The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce is recruiting volunteers to serve as parade marshals for the West Chester Christmas Parade on Dec. 5 with a tree lighting at 6:30 p.m. Volunteers will wear fuzzy red hats and official vests, help guide the parade along an eight block route and vote on contest winners—instructions will be sent in mid-November.  VISTA Today

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Ben du Pont, a duPont family entrepreneur, said his venture capital firm Chartline Capital Partners will invest $36 million in fintech startups to help low- and moderate-income communities, and that Longwood Gardens will add new greenhouses—promising more garden innovations and future products.  VISTA Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • West Chester University’s Starbucks has been renovated ahead of the fall semester. Construction began May 12 and ended Aug.15 using Dining Life Cycle Reserve funds, and the updates include new mobile ordering and a Nitro Cold Brew machine — features that boost speed and convenience for students.  The Quad

  • On Oct. 18, thousands gathered outside West Chester’s city hall for a No Kings protest against the current administration — many wore costumes and carried creative signs calling for change. The event brought together people of all ages who voiced concerns over voter rights and government decisions.  The Quad

  • Highmark has announced a collaboration with Noom to offer Noom: Weight Management to nearly 2 million eligible members starting January 1, offering personalized coaching and smart tools for weight management and diabetes prevention.  WFMZ-TV
