She is updating her program to help kids regain lost reading skills and recently held a Laughs for Literacy fundraiser at People's Light — a sign of her ongoing commitment to local service. - ➤ State Senator Carolyn Comitta invites local parents, grandparents, and expectant families to a free Community Baby Shower on Friday, October 24, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Oxford Presbyterian Church—over 20 local organizations will offer resources, children’s activities, raffles, and free baby items. - ➤ SEPTA must inspect its 225 Silverliner IV rail cars by Oct. 31 after two rail cars caught fire and raised safety concerns at a City Council meeting—its general manager warned a lack of funds might cause the agency to miss the deadline.
