- ➤ The West Chester NAACP organized a book drive that collected nearly 200 new books and donated them to Oscar Lasko YMCA on Oct 1 to support local young readers; books came from local YMCAs, the Chester County History Center, and the Melton Community Center. - ➤ Widener University and Philadelphia Union are offering a work-in-sports program that will take four high schools to Subaru Park and the WSFS Bank Sportsplex starting Tuesday, Oct. 7; students from Malvern Preparatory, West Chester East, Rustin, and Plymouth Whitemarsh High Schools will explore careers in sports (including game-day experience, hospitality, communications, sports medicine, and player relations). - ➤ Delaware County Community College and Ursinus College signed a transfer agreement—giving eligible DCCC students automatic junior status and merit-based scholarships as they move from an associate to a bachelor's program. - ➤ Delaware County State Sen. Tim Kearney introduced Abby’s Law in the Pennsylvania Senate on October 3rd—a bill that restricts e-scooter use by children and sets limits to keep riders safe. The law bans riders under 16, requires helmets for 16- and 17-year-olds, allows only one rider per scooter, and sets a 20mph speed limit while letting local governments add harsher penalties.
