ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pennsylvania officials said nearly 60 invasive aquatic animal species threaten lakes, rivers and streams by disrupting habitats and damaging infrastructure—zebra mussels and snakeheads being key examples. The Department of Agriculture classified these species as established, emerging and potential invaders and urged boaters and anglers to clean gear to prevent their spread. FOX 29

- ➤ On October 1, the NTSB recommended that SEPTA remove its Silverliner IV railcars from service after five fires over the past eight months raised fire risk concerns—nearly 60% of SEPTA's regional fleet is affected.
