The Lord’s Pantry of Downingtown held its 60th anniversary event on September 29 — ticket funds raised went toward buying a refrigerated van to support over 700 families in need.
Executive director Jan Leaf, who has served for 35 years, said the pantry will continue offering groceries and utility assistance.
Local farms in Chester County offer autumn fun for residents with pumpkin picking, hayrides, and corn maze adventures; Highland Orchards in West Chester—charging $3 for its pick-your-own pumpkins—is one spot highlighting seasonal activities.
Other farms like Colonial Gardens, Milky Way Farm, Sugartown Strawberries, and Yeager’s Farm and Market provide attractions such as haunted hayrides, farm animal visits, and tractor-drawn wagon rides.

Local restaurant group Stove & Co. will exchange Iron Hill gift cards for a $25 gift card usable at any of its restaurants—this comes after Iron Hill closed all its locations due to financial struggles.
The offer is available at multiple sites, including Stove & Tap in West Chester.
Cutter and Cannon Spirits, a rum-focused distillery by local entrepreneurs Cole Bauer and Matt Mowatt, will open in November in West Chester with a tasting room at the front and a distillery at the back.
The company will begin production of rums including a Red, White, and Blue Bourbon, a dark rum and a Navy Strength Rum.
1723 Vineyards in Landenberg is one of the few Pennsylvania wineries that runs its own vineyard and makes wines only from its grapes.
Fifth-generation farmers Sarah and Ben Cody planted the vineyard on the historic McMaster farm in 2015 and now serve still and sparkling wines from $28 to $45 for guests to enjoy—indoors or outdoors.
