  • Conestoga High School had a two-hour delay on Thursday after police responded to a reported bomb threat to clear the building—no arrests have been reported as the investigation continues.  FOX 29

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Penn State Brandywine marks five years of its Chancellor’s Commissions on Equity by Design—groups that have improved campus accessibility, added a prayer room, and offered training on inclusion. Regional Chancellor Marilyn J. Wells said the commissions will plan more events and projects to boost belonging in the coming year.  VISTA Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Chester County towns now have longer summers because rising ocean temperatures make heat last longer. A study by climatologist Brian Brettschneider shows West Chester summers last 11 days more than they did from 1964 to 1994—Downingtown and Malvern see summers extended by 16 days compared to past decades.  VISTA Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • PennDOT finished a $1.4 million project to replace the Valley Park Road bridge over Anderson Brook in Schuylkill Township — crews installed a precast reinforced concrete box culvert and new guide rails after the bridge closed on June 23, and the roadway is now open to traffic.  MyChesCo
  • Stalled state budget talks hurt Chester County as state funding for human services fell short by $10 million during July and August—forcing SEPTA to change operations and local schools to reduce staff. State senators warned that if no deal is reached, key services like at-home care, help for people with disabilities, and mental health support will face cuts, with Senate sessions set to resume on Sept. 8.  VISTA Today
