  • After five years of closure, the historic bistro now called The Pear reopened in West Chester under new owners Nick and Linda Farrell on August 26, 2025—renovations included refinished floors, an expanded bar that seats fifteen, and a redesigned cozy lounge for a seasonal menu.  VISTA Today

CRIME NEWS

  • A 25-year-old man was arrested on August 20 for robbery-related offenses after a month-long search and was taken into custody with a preliminary hearing set at District Court 15-3-07—authorities say all charges are allegations.  MyChesCo

ECONOMY NEWS

  • QVC Group will add 250 new jobs in West Chester after HSN moved from Florida this summer—its plan is to grow to 300 roles by early 2026 with 50 HSN team members joining for broadcast, planning and support roles.  VISTA Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A federal appeals court ruled Tuesday that misdated ballots are valid because Pennsylvania’s rule violates constitutional rights—Gov. Shapiro said the decision protects voters' rights as county election offices count mail-in ballots with minor errors. The ruling comes after challenges in previous elections raised concerns over discarding qualified ballots.  WFMZ-TV
  • SEPTA bus drivers face safety concerns as frustrated passengers abuse them amid service cuts—abuse has included spitting, slapping, and even urine being thrown while newer employees worry about potential layoffs affecting nearly 700 workers. Pennsylvania state lawmakers are considering a compromise, but security measures for drivers have not yet increased.  FOX 29

SPORTS NEWS

  • Top high school football teams in Chester County are looking for games with teams outside the region to get ready for the season. Downingtown West will face St. John’s College High School on August 29 — while other schools also plan to seek tougher matchups.  VISTA Today
