  • Tower Health reported its first operating profit of $5.9 million—the first profit since 2017—after selling Brandywine Hospital, which raised its cash reserves and revenue following a debt restructuring.  VISTA Today
  • Kennett Square produces nearly half of the nation’s mushrooms and is fueling a local trend as products such as soda and protein bars see mushroom-themed sales jump to 6.1 million dollars in the first half of this year. Pennsylvania now produces about 70 percent of the nation’s mushrooms and the town will host its 40th annual mushroom festival next month—an event that shows growing consumer interest.  VISTA Today

CRIME NEWS

  • Parents (Josh and Sandee) of beloved teacher Ellen Greenberg, who was fatally stabbed in her apartment in January 2011, continue to seek the truth with help from West Chester law firm Lamb McErlane after a sworn statement led city officials to reexamine her death and they are still waiting for further action from the city.  VISTA Today

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Oscar Hammerstein Museum and Theatre Education Center will show the famous lyricist's standing desk starting August 23—his wife built the desk so he could work comfortably while standing, and a press conference with guided tours will follow to display more of Hammerstein's treasures.  VISTA Today
  • Longwood Gardens broadcast the premiere of 'Longwood Reimagined' on WHYY and will host free onsite screenings in the Gardens from Sept. 19 to 21 at 7 pm—showing the transformation of 17 acres that blends modern design with preserved historic features.  VISTA Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, PennDOT set lane restrictions on Route 3 on West Chester Pike between Paoli Pike and Strasburg Road from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily—crews will complete high-friction resurfacing until August 22 as part of a federally funded safety project and motorists should expect delays.  MyChesCo
  • State Rep. Melissa Shusterman of Chester announced plans to introduce a bill that will change how Pennsylvania collects and uses state tax money—dividing the Commonwealth into three parts so each area can keep the funds it generates for schools, police, and roads. The legislation will be introduced in the coming weeks to help fix funding gaps in local communities.  MyChesCo
