COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Drishti Foundation will host its annual Drishti Dash 5K/1K Run/Walk on September 7 at Wilson Farm Park in Wayne to raise funds for blind and visually impaired individuals—an event started by students to build community support.  MyChesCo

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Immaculata University will welcome its largest undergraduate class this fall with more than 415 first-year students and over 60 transfer students. The University has also transformed Gillet Hall into a modern residence for 56 students to meet growing enrollment needs — showing a record surge in interest.  VISTA Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Aqua Pennsylvania received $7.5M in PENNVEST funds to install PFAS treatment systems for nearly 3,000 customers in Bucks and Chester — and replace 200 lead service lines at no cost in Bristol Borough and Township. The PFAS projects will finish by fall while the lead replacements are expected to be completed early next year.  VISTA Today

HEALTH NEWS

  • Chester County Hospital’s nurse Nancy Maratea was honored with the DAISY Award on August 15 for her kind care in the Mother Baby Unit—she helped a patient feel safe during a hard time.  VISTA Today

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jhoan Duran left the field on a bullpen cart after a line drive hit his left foot in the ninth inning as the Phillies won 6-2 on Friday night—back-to-back homers from Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper powered the win. Zack Wheeler pitched five innings with 97 pitches before being relieved by David Robertson, and no update was available on Duran's condition.  The Philadelphia Inquirer
  • Three Chester County high school football teams earned top ten rankings in Southeastern Pennsylvania based on last season's records. Malvern Prep ranked third with an 8-2 record, Downingtown West placed seventh with a 13-2 record, and Coatesville came in ninth as each team prepares for the upcoming season.  VISTA Today
