- ➤ A West Goshen couple, Jim and Lynne Kent, became the first to complete the Chester County Farmers Market Trail by visiting all ten markets across the county. They won complementary Ag Swag bags from AgConnect, which promotes local agriculture and supports community businesses. VISTA Today
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On August 14, Wilmington police pursued a vehicle that rammed two police cars—forced onto I-95 before crashing in Chester and leading to the arrest of two 18-year-olds. FOX 29
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Kennett Square’s Mushroom Festival will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a parade at 6 p.m. on Sept. 4 and a two-day event beginning Sept. 6—featuring over 200 vendors, live music, cooking and mushroom-growing demos, kids’ activities and a car show. The celebration highlights the town’s role as the Mushroom Capital of the World and its impact on Chester County’s economy. VISTA Today
- ➤ Brad Ingelsby’s Task, the follow-up to Mare of Easttown, has a new extended trailer and a release date set for Sept. 7. This dark crime drama stars Mark Ruffalo and was partly filmed in Chester County—featuring scenes in Coatesville—and will air Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO with episodes available to stream the next day. - ➤ West Chester native Dale Law, a Villanova linebacker and rising senior, completed a paid summer internship with Fischer Cunnane focusing on taxation that helped him decide to pursue an accounting career. Fischer Cunnane will join West Chester University for Meet the Firms Night on Sept. 4 — and for the Job & Internship Fair on Sept. 24. VISTA Today
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ SEPTA will move forward with sweeping service cuts on August 24 after missing crucial funding from state leaders amid a $213M budget crisis—these cuts include eliminating 32 bus routes and shortening 16 others. In September it will raise fares to $2.90 for pay-per-ride trips and $116 for a monthly pass, with additional service reductions planned for January. FOX 29
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ ChesPenn Health Services celebrated 52 years of helping people in need during National Health Center Week from Aug. 4-9, and its leaders welcomed state officials and community advocates to honor its work—showing a strong focus on quality care for local residents. The organization will continue to expand its facilities to meet growing community needs. VISTA Today
- ➤ Benjamin Zelner at Chester County Hospital is offering a free back health program on Wednesday, Aug 20, from 12:30-1:00 PM to share simple exercises and tips for protecting the spine—participants of all ages are welcome to learn techniques for reducing pain and improving posture. VISTA Today
