  • The Chester County 4‑H Dairy Goat Show was held on Aug. 2 at the Chester County 4‑H Center in Honey Brook where 8 members exhibited 15 goats in four breed classes—winners including Emma Magee, Max Wingrave, Ella Wingrave, and Chase Williams, with Pond View Springs LMR Brandy named Best Goat in Show.  VISTA Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Matt Przywara, executive director of CCRES, is expanding the nonprofit’s support for students with behavioral health and special education needs by doubling its scholarship program and seeking new partnerships beyond Chester County. He is focusing on talent recruitment, geographic expansion, and philanthropic growth to reinvest funds directly into community programs—helping boost local school support and benefits for staff.  VISTA Today
  • Immaculata University history professor William Watson has studied Duffy’s Cut since 2004—he and his students used ground-penetrating radar to examine a mass grave where fifty-seven Irish workers likely were killed rather than dying from cholera. In May, they uncovered new clues and a second grave in Downingtown that will guide further research.  VISTA Today
  • Campers at Chesterbrook Academy raised over $26,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation using lemonade stands and treat sales this summer—marking the school’s 40th anniversary and its focus on social responsibility.  MyChesCo

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Federal Transit Administration launched an inquiry into SEPTA’s storage of decommissioned electric buses after a June fire damaged many buses from lithium-ion batteries. SEPTA said it is removing the vehicles and batteries from the yard and must respond by August 20 to meet federal safety standards—ensuring future funding remains on track.  FOX 29
  • SEPTA officials announced that if additional funding is not approved by August 14, major service cuts will begin on August 24—reducing overall services by 20% and eliminating 32 bus routes along with significant rail reductions. SEPTA General Manager Scott Sauer said the 10—day period is the minimum needed to safely update schedules and warned that without funding, commuters will face further disruptions.  FOX 29
