  • The remains of Zachariah Walker, lynched 114 years ago, will be buried on Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. at Church of Christ Cemetery at 750 Doe Run Road in Coatesville—part of the Annual Senator Andy Dinniman Community Gathering that will include a funeral procession stopping at a historic lynch site and a forum at Gateway Church.  VISTA Today

  • The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board’s summer whiskey lottery is open until 5 p.m. on Aug. 8, letting eligible residents and licensees register for a chance to buy rare bottles including a $7,499.99 Weller Millennium Straight Bourbon—winners will be notified the week of Aug. 11 and must show a valid ID at pickup.   • Thornbury Farm hosted a celebration on July 26 that marked 200 years since Marquis de Lafayette returned to Chester County after the Battle of Brandywine & farm owner Randell Spackman guided over 300 visitors on a tour of key historic sites while local historians and reenactors explained Lafayette's legacy.  VISTA Today

  • Center Township supervisors approved a new installment of CDBG funds for a paving project in Luciusboro. The funds will support future road improvements in the area.  WFMZ-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Eagles traded defensive tackle Thomas Booker for cornerback Jakorian Bennett from the Raiders on Monday night—adding depth to their secondary. Bennett, who started 11 games in two seasons with Las Vegas while playing through a shoulder injury, will compete with teammates in camp for a spot in the starting lineup.  The Philadelphia Inquirer
