  • Chester County’s 96th Annual Old Fiddler’s Picnic will be held on August 9 at Hibernia County Park in Coatesville and will draw hundreds of musicians and families. Attendees should bring chairs, blankets, and musical instruments to enjoy live music, food trucks, and other activities.  VISTA Today
  • Four events offer a mix of activities in Chester County this August. Today in Exton, Dining Out for the Dogs gives treats for pups to benefit a nonprofit—Phoenixville hosts a Butterfly Festival on August 23, West Chester features discounted drinks every Wednesday through August 27, and Glenmoore holds a horse show and fair from August 30 to September 1.  VISTA Today

  • Smarty Jones, the racehorse bred in Chester County who won the Kentucky Derby in 2004, was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame on August 1st in Saratoga Springs — a long-awaited honor that cements his legacy in the sport.  VISTA Today

  • London Grove Township may soon host a 192-unit apartment complex built on nearly 20 acres of farmland off Route 1 next to a shopping center. The $50 million project by Delaware-based Pettinaro Co. will take about 18 months to complete and include a clubhouse, pool, play area, 489 parking spaces and 7.6 acres of green space with approvals expected by year-end.  VISTA Today

  • Coatesville Area High School stars Max and Colton Hiller received national recognition for their football and basketball achievements. This summer—Colton won gold with the under-16 U.S. National Team and Max competed in the Futures 50 Under-Armour Tournament—the brothers also secured several scholarship offers.  VISTA Today
  • On Friday, August 1, the Phillies beat the Tigers 5-4 at Citizens Bank Park. Phillies pitcher Jhoan Duran pitched the top ninth inning — helping secure the win.  The Philadelphia Inquirer
