COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Diane Speroff, a speech-language pathologist and advocate, was honored with the 2025 President’s Award by The Arc of Chester County for her 40+ years of service to children and adults with disabilities. Arc BOD President Lisa Albany presented the award, praising Speroff for helping families overcome communication challenges (she began her career at the organization as a teacher).  VISTA Today
  • Citadel Credit Union joined other regional credit unions yesterday at Philabundance headquarters on South Galloway Street to help fight summer hunger when school meal programs ended. The group raised over $56,000 plus 3,900 pounds of food, including a $10,000 donation from Citadel to support families in the Greater Philadelphia area.  VISTA Today

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Overnight Tuesday, a SEPTA train in Paoli caught fire in its last two cars with no passengers aboard, injuring a SEPTA employee and a firefighter as over 70 firefighters took two hours to control the blaze—after which the train cars were towed to a railyard for investigation.  FOX 29

CULTURE NEWS

  • Bryn Mawr native David Corenswet attended a Montgomery County screening of Superman and shared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that the local crowd cheered him like family. He kept a low profile with classic disguise glasses—demonstrating his ongoing connection to his hometown roots.  VISTA Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Washington College recently hosted Chester County Futures high school students for a two-day overnight immersion that let them experience real campus life, including dorm living, guided tours, and a STEM Team Challenge — the challenge helped students learn teamwork and problem-solving skills in preparation for college. Mary Williams, the Director of Community Engagement, said the program was a defining moment for students to see themselves belonging in college.  VISTA Today
  • Emmalyn Holland of Glenmoore won the Duck Brand Stuck at Prom Scholarship Grand Prize for her hot pink duct tape dress made with (31 rolls over 176 hours), earning her a $15,000 scholarship. The contest invited high school students from the U.S. and Canada to create DIY prom outfits that showed their creativity.  VISTA Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pennsylvania American Water completed a $2.2 million upgrade at the Sadsbury Township pump station with new pumps, electrical enhancements, and a relocated wet well (improving wastewater service and system reliability for local customers). The work began in July 2024 and finished in April, modernizing the facility (which serves Sadsbury, West Caln, and Valley Townships).  VISTA Today
