  • Chaplain Jack Crans has served as Chester County Prison’s chaplain for over fifty years while supporting vulnerable people and opening programs (City Gate Mission) that aided over 4,000 individuals re-entering society. He also developed a retreat space called Camp at Old Mill in Honey Brook and worked at local churches to help many in the community.  VISTA Today

CULTURE NEWS

  • Researchers William Watson and his twin brother Frank Watson uncovered a new grave site at Northwood Cemetery in Downingtown, about 11 miles from Duffy’s Cut, using ground-penetrating radar and careful digging along a steep embankment. The team recovered a tooth and jaw fragment (signs of a second mass grave of Irish railroad workers) and plans to do DNA analysis before reburial with a marked Celtic cross.  The Philadelphia Inquirer

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The state Department of Environmental Protection told the owner of Christman Lake in Windsor Township that the dam must be made safer by signing a consent order by the end of the week to avoid large fines—neighbors worry that draining the lake could harm local wildlife including osprey, eagles, and threatened red cooter turtles.  WFMZ-TV

  • West Chester has been named one of the best places to retire in Pennsylvania by Travel + Leisure and offers a mix of historic downtown, scenic hiking trails, and many 55+ communities with amenities like golf courses and heated pools.
