  • Greenmore Farm Animal Rescue in West Grove has rescued many animals and helped people find new pets through adoption. Founder Julia Altman started the rescue 15 years ago and shifted to full-time work five years ago—her team now performs most veterinary care onsite to keep costs low.  VISTA Today

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Essential Utilities has invested $75,000 through its Sure Splash initiative to support water safety programs in Pennsylvania and help reduce drowning risks. The funding partners include six nonprofits — Horizons at Episcopal Academy, Nile Swim Club, Kaiserman JCC, the Hamilton Area YMCA, YMCA of Greater Brandywine, and the American Red Cross — which will offer swim lessons and summer camps to build essential water skills.  VISTA Today
  • West Chester-based Verrica Pharmaceuticals updated its licensing deal with Japan’s Torii Pharmaceutical—this change may boost the company by $18 million. Torii will pay $8 million this month and an additional $10 million after Japanese approval for a drug to treat molluscum contagiosum while also sharing phase 3 trial costs for a common warts treatment.  VISTA Today

CRIME NEWS

  • A Newark man, Cristano Lara-Medina, 24, was arrested on July 1 in Kennett Square after police said he lured a child into a vehicle and committed alleged unlawful contact, corruption of minors, indecent assault and harassment along Center Street, and he now awaits a preliminary hearing.  MyChesCo
  • Authorities charged five individuals with first-degree murder after Alex Camacho was fatally stabbed on June 29 in Coatesville—four suspects are in custody while one remains at large.  MyChesCo
  • Chester County police executed a search warrant on July 10 at 10:18 p.m. in East Whiteland Township at 31-year-old Kevin Krebs’ home after his arrest at a No Kings rally on June 14, and investigators probed items such as 13 pipe bombs, a homemade silencer, & other concealed weapons while his family returned 21 guns and his preliminary hearing is set for August 7.  6abc Philadelphia

  • CCRES is hiring professional staff to support children and adults facing behavioral health challenges, offering a Personal Care Assistant position for West Chester Area School District with a start in August/early September—along with independent contract roles as a Behavior Consultant and Behavior Analyst in Montgomery and Chester Counties.
