  • Data from the U.S. Department of Education showed that 18 Philadelphia-area colleges paid average faculty salaries above $100,000 in 2024. Delaware County Community College ranked 17th at $101,374 plus West Chester University averaged $96,879 and narrowly missed the top listing.  VISTA Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Erin McHale, a PhD candidate at Rutgers, reported that native bats preyed on spotted lanternflies—an invasive insect that has harmed trees and crops since it arrived in 2014—based on DNA analysis of bat droppings collected from 2018 to 2022. The study suggests that using guano tests could become a tool for tracking the spread of the pest.  VISTA Today
