  • Coatesville-based JAHACO turned used plastic bags into benches and tables using 13,000 bags per bench — founders Amy and Jeff Burke partnered with Eco Plastic Products to grind the waste and keep it out of local waterways.  VISTA Today
  • Soko Bag, started by husband-and-wife duo Shea Roggio and J.H. “Alice” Chang, brings South Korean-inspired fried chicken to Phoenixville—offering several flavors and seven dipping sauces. CRIME NEWS

  • Oxford police charged former Dunkin Donuts employee Carrie Griest from Nottingham, 39, after she allegedly used her key to disable the security system and remove cash set for deposit from the store at 321 North Third Street on April 14 at 5:08 a.m.—she was later taken into custody on unrelated charges, arraigned on $5,000 bail, and faces burglary, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property, and theft by unlawful taking.  MyChesCo

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Josh Shapiro and Revenue Secretary Pat Browne began distributing 2024 property tax and rent rebates to help seniors, renters and people with disabilities by issuing 425,000 rebates worth $258 million across the Commonwealth. Eligible applicants will receive funds by direct deposit or mail as the deadline to apply is December 31 while expanded income limits made 150,000 new residents eligible + broadening relief efforts.  MyChesCo
  • Gov. Josh Shapiro will sign a bill today to end Pennsylvania's 152-year-old ban on Sunday hunting — the law will take effect in September and allow the Game Commission to choose permitted hunting Sundays.  The Philadelphia Inquirer
