  • Mike Lahiff, CEO of Conshohocken-based ZeroEyes, won EY’s 2025 Entrepreneur of the Year Award on June 26 for his team’s work on AI-powered gun detection software that sends alerts to law enforcement within seconds—he is now competing for the national award to be announced in November.  VISTA Today

CULTURE NEWS

  • People’s Light is selling 500 raffle tickets at $100 each to celebrate its 50th birthday and offer one winner a luxury vacation to one of five global destinations, with proceeds supporting its nonprofit artistic and educational programming. The grand prize will be announced at the Birthday Bash on Jul. 20 — ticket holders need not attend to win.  VISTA Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On June 26, high school seniors from Kennett, Avon Grove, and Antietam signed commitment declarations at West Chester University's Foundation to become teachers through the PRIZE Program. The program—developed by the university's College of Education and Social Work and featuring a one-week summer Teacher Academy—aims to address the local teacher shortage by mentoring future educators who will return to partnering districts after graduation.  VISTA Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today and through Wednesday, July 2, Route 162 between Route 82 and Stargazers Road is closed from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for base repairs—drivers must follow detours via Stargazers Road, Strasburg Road and Route 82. Scroggy Road will also be closed on weekdays from July 2 through July 8 for pipe replacement with traffic redirected along Street Road, Union School Road and Jackson School Road.  MyChesCo
  • Gov. Josh Shapiro said he will keep talking with Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie about state help if the team builds a new stadium and is looking into bringing NASCAR to Philadelphia inside Franklin Field—he wants to boost local sports options. He said state funds are limited and recalled he did not back the 76ers’ arena proposal last year—any new project will need careful funding.  VISTA Today

HEALTH NEWS

  • On March 10, Caln Township held a two-hour hearing at the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company where Main Line Health said it will build the new Downingtown Health Center at the corner of Lloyd and Manor Avenues, which will offer primary, specialty, and urgent care, along with laboratory and imaging services. The center will operate Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.—it will also hire 118 new employees and serve over 42,000 patients each year.  VISTA Today
