  • The Phillies surprised the Almada family in Malvern with a backyard makeover that gave them a wiffle ball field, a swing set, Adirondak chairs, and postseason banners — a gift through the Summer of Giving initiative presented by Giant. CRIME NEWS

  • Police arrested Kevin Krebs, 31, of Malvern after discovering 13 improvised explosive devices plus sketches and tactical gear at a home in East Whiteland Township on June 16 following a June 14 report of an unlicensed concealed firearm, and Krebs remains in custody without bail as the investigation continues.  MyChesCo

  • A Chester County couple and West Chester architect built a hobbit house that copies a scene from The Shire—this 600-square-foot home features a 54-inch round hobbit door made from Spanish cedar and a mahogany butterfly window set against an 18th-century stone wall.  VISTA Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New federal rules now require Pennsylvania to evaluate broadband proposals on the lowest cost, favoring cheaper options like Starlink over fiber and raising concerns about long-term service in rural areas. State officials have 90 days to rescore applications and adjust plans to meet the changed guidelines.  The Philadelphia Inquirer
  • State Rep. Chris Pielli from Chester introduced House Bill 1192 today to start a pilot program for a mother’s treatment court that will support mothers recovering from substance use disorders by addressing barriers such as lack of childcare and past trauma.   • State Rep. Dan Williams awarded $2.6 million in state funds on June 18 to support affordable housing in Chester County by funding local organizations to provide case management and housing services.
