  • A recent ranking by Stacker found that six Chester County suburbs ranked among the top 15 in the Philadelphia area based on housing costs, school quality and living expenses — Chesterbrook ranked first.  VISTA Today

  • West Chester-based QVC Group is focusing on social and streaming platforms to counter a nearly $1.3 billion operating loss last quarter and an 8% drop in fiscal 2024 revenue — steps it says will improve its turnaround strategy. CEO David Rawlinson extended his contract through 2027 with an option to continue until 2028.  VISTA Today

CULTURE NEWS

  • After beginning on Friday at Willowdale Steeplechase, the 17th annual Chester County Balloon Festival continues today with doors opening at 2 p.m., and it is expected to draw up to 40,000 people over Father’s Day weekend while offering hot air balloon rides, tethered rides, food trucks, vendors, a beer and wine garden, and a special car show.  6abc Philadelphia

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Chester County twins Leah and Elan Madanat graduated from Bishop Shanahan High School in Downingtown with a near-perfect attendance record as Leah missed one day in 12 years while Elan never missed a day; they are enrolled in the pre-med program at Duquesne University + plan a short break at the beach before starting college.  VISTA Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Construction is set to begin Monday, June 23 on a $1.4 million PennDOT project that will replace the old bridge on Valley Park Road in Schuylkill Township. The road will be closed from Clothier Springs Road to Anderson Farm Road until August 29—drivers should follow detour routes via Whitehorse Road, Route 23 and Ferry Lane and allow extra time for delays.  MyChesCo
  • Chester County organizations received $2.6 million in state funding from the PHARE Fund to improve safe housing for local residents. State Representative Dan Williams said the grants—allocated to groups such as W.C. Atkinson Memorial Community Service Center Inc. and the Housing Partnership of Chester County—will fund case management, homelessness prevention, and affordable housing programs.  MyChesCo
