Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 4th of June.
Good morning, West Chester.
💼 Business
Brothers Don and Scott Avellino left the automobile repair industry to open Botanery Barn Distilling and Restaurant in Elverson—set on eight acres of gardens and scenic views—to build community connections.
They offer a farm-to-table dining experience while producing Revivalist Gin and Resurgent Botanical Whiskey.
📰 Economy
As of June 1, PPL customers saw a 16% rate hike while Met-Ed and PECO increased by 8.1% and 12.6% respectively; a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Utility Commission said rising fuel costs and increasing demand drive these changes.
The spokesperson advised residents to adjust thermostats — even a one-degree change can lower energy use by 3% — and to use ceiling fans and regular maintenance to manage costs.
