ECONOMY NEWS

  • As of June 1, PPL customers saw a 16% rate hike while Met-Ed and PECO increased by 8.1% and 12.6% respectively; a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Utility Commission said rising fuel costs and increasing demand drive these changes. The spokesperson advised residents to adjust thermostats — even a one-degree change can lower energy use by 3% — and to use ceiling fans and regular maintenance to manage costs.  WFMZ-TV
