The YMCA of Greater Brandywine was named a Top Workplace for the second time by The Philadelphia Inquirer as over 1,500 staff members praised its supportive work environment and strong benefits—helping boost its role in Chester County's economy.

Mikal Upshur, aged 32, surrendered himself on May 15 after allegedly assaulting a victim at approximately 1:00 a.m. on December 7 at the Bicentennial Parking Garage on South High Street, leaving the victim hospitalized while he faces charges (aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person).

A 22-year-old West Chester resident fled a traffic stop on April 20 after officers found he provided false identification and he was later caught by state police — he now faces charges including escape, false identification and driving with a suspended license.

Habitat for Humanity of Chester County celebrated 13-year-old Siona Talekar after her debut children’s book, I Know What You Do When I Go to School, became available for pre-order and earned early praise from critics.

WCU student Bonita Ty testified at a public hearing on May 21 about proposed SEPTA cuts that would remove the 204 bus, which averages about 5 passengers per hour.

Ty explained that riders could be forced to walk long distances—sometimes up to six miles—to reach their destinations if the service is eliminated.
