CRIME NEWS

  • Mikal Upshur, aged 32, surrendered himself on May 15 after allegedly assaulting a victim at approximately 1:00 a.m. on December 7 at the Bicentennial Parking Garage on South High Street, leaving the victim hospitalized while he faces charges (aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person).  MyChesCo
  • A 22-year-old West Chester resident fled a traffic stop on April 20 after officers found he provided false identification and he was later caught by state police — he now faces charges including escape, false identification and driving with a suspended license.  MyChesCo

CULTURE NEWS

  • Habitat for Humanity of Chester County celebrated 13-year-old Siona Talekar after her debut children’s book, I Know What You Do When I Go to School, became available for pre-order and earned early praise from critics. Talekar participated in the Build a House, Build a Dream event at Wallingford Elementary in 2023 & refined her story and illustrations to donate copies to local schools and children’s hospitals.  VISTA Today

  • WCU student Bonita Ty testified at a public hearing on May 21 about proposed SEPTA cuts that would remove the 204 bus, which averages about 5 passengers per hour.
