CRIME NEWS

  • Chester County police charged 60-year-old Allen Gould with first and third-degree murder and abuse of a corpse after linking him to his wife Anna Maciejewska's 2017 disappearance — records show he delayed reporting her missing and altered evidence to avoid detection.  WFMZ-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • West Chester University is hosting its 35th Annual Pre-Collegiate National Piano Competition on Saturday, May 17 with a winners’ recital and awards ceremony planned for Sunday, May 18 at 3:00 p.m. Eighty young pianists—ages 9 to 18—will compete for more than $5,500 in prizes and join a free master class at 11:30 a.m.  VISTA Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Pennsylvania Primary Election will be held Tuesday, May 20, with voters in Chester County—including West Chester—choosing candidates for county offices, school boards and local councils through a closed primary system. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. as winners advance to the November general election.  Chester County Press
  • A new law known as Paul Miller's Law will ban hand-held devices while driving starting June 5 and gives a written warning for the first offense until June 5, 2026 — a move pushed by advocates like Eileen Miller after her son died in 2010 from a distracted driver on Route 33 — and aims to curb phone use behind the wheel. This legislation marks a key step by state lawmakers to reduce distracted driving statewide.  WFMZ-TV
