- ➤ Residents in Guthriesville reported a black bear roaming lawns and overturning trash bins early on May 9 — several witnesses captured the animal on security cameras and found its paw prints, prompting local officials to advise securing trash and removing bird feeders. - ➤ Rite Aid filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on May 9th and said it will sell assets including eight lease locations in Chester County, where these stores will soon close. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Pennsylvania House passed House Bill 96 to protect older adults and incapacitated individuals from losing their homes because they cannot pay property taxes, with a bipartisan vote of 201—2. The bill will now move to the state Senate for further consideration. MyChesCo

- ➤ Independence Blue Cross is now accepting nominations during National Nurses Week for its Celebrate Caring campaign—honoring extraordinary nurses in the region with submissions open until May 31.
