  • CCRES is hiring professional staff to support children and adults with special needs in schools, homes and community settings across Chester County. The open roles include personal care assistants + behavior consultants and behavior analysts who will work flexible schedules while earning competitive wages.  VISTA Today
  • On April 26, scores of anglers gathered at Anson B. Nixon Park ponds to fish for 750 trout stocked two days earlier. Although heavy rains and thunderstorms were predicted, the clear weather allowed families to enjoy the event and learn fishing skills.  Chester County Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Last weekend, the 19th West Chester Film Festival at the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center featured films from many countries & hosted panel discussions with filmmakers and journalists. Festival Coordinator Victoria Rose said submissions open in August & independent jurors selected films after reviewing every entry.  Chester County Press

  • Chester County Library is launching new career services such as mock interviews, PA CareerLink Office Hours every Tuesday from 12-3, and a free professional headshots event on May 12 in the Struble Room — residents at 450 Exton Square Parkway can sign up or drop in to boost their job skills.  VISTA Today
  • West Chester University’s new Life Science Innovation course won two top awards at the Wistar Institute’s Shark Tank competition & the winning teams proposed innovative biotech treatments for Gaucher’s disease and Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Earlier in the week, another team earned $6,500 in WCU’s Business Idea Competition for developing a universal T-cell therapy for multiple myeloma.  VISTA Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rep. Dan Williams’ bill to help local governments fight blight passed the House today—this law allows municipalities to deny permits to LLCs or corporations if any principal owner has tax delinquencies, and the bill now moves to the Senate.  Chester County Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Tate Lambert, born at 33 weeks and diagnosed with PURA syndrome, came home two weeks before Christmas 2023 after a long hospital stay and careful home care provided by skilled nurses—such as Sue Paris—who helped him improve his motor skills and manage his tracheostomy. His family now supports his recovery and plans to remove his tracheostomy tube in June while exploring fundraising efforts for PURA syndrome research.  Chester County Press
