  • Amanda Blevins, Director of Community Impact at Chester County United Way, joins the 2026 VISTA NextGen Superstars and will be honored at an Awards Reception & Celebration on Thursday, Apr. 30 at the Penn State Great Valley Conference Center in Malvern, with sponsorship opportunities to support the Chester County OIC.  VISTA Today
  • Malvern resident Deborah Hausladen runs Sneakers for Soldiers, a nonprofit that sends new sneakers to service members deployed in combat zones. For eight years the organization has donated over 17,000 pairs of sneakers (meeting a need not provided by the military) to help soldiers in harsh conditions.  VISTA Today
  • On Monday, Apr. 27, West Vincent Township police shared a nighttime video of a black bear stealing a garbage bag, urging residents to secure trash and pet food to avoid attracting wildlife (officials ask anyone who sees the bear to call 911 for monitoring).  The Philadelphia Inquirer
  • Chester County farmers markets offer fresh groceries and handmade items year-round. Berwyn runs on the 2nd and 4th Sundays (Jan-Apr) and every Sunday from May to December, while Downingtown, Lancaster in Wayne and Phoenixville markets feature seasonal vendors this spring.  VISTA Today

  • West Chester University’s Dowdy Multicultural Center will host its 34th Annual Kente Celebration at Hollinger Field House on Thursday, May 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The ceremony honors student success and cultural heritage through a special graduation ritual.  The Quad
