  • Freedom Village at Brandywine raised $500 in support of the Life Care Services Foundation during Awareness Week from April 7-11 through events including a raffle+plant sale and a casual dress down day.   • Safe Harbor of Chester County is hosting BEEBFEST today at Mas Mexicali Cantina on 102 E. Market Street in West Chester from Noon to 10 p.m.—a free music festival of live music that benefits services for homelessness.   • Families across Chester County can join the YMCA of Greater Brandywine for Healthy Kids Day— a free, family-friendly event from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM today at eight locations.   • C&N has agreed to merge with Susquehanna Community Bank in a plan approved by both boards that will combine offices in central Pennsylvania with its network in New York.   • A team of junior Biomedical Engineering students took first place in the WCU Business Idea Competition on April 23rd by pitching their cancer treatment startup Cell-U Therapeutics & earning a $5,000 award along with an internship offer. They presented their idea to biotechnology investors at the Wistar Institute and received hands-on guidance from the Cottrell Entrepreneurship Center.  VISTA Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Earth Day, Chester County commissioners and local environmental advocates broke ground on a pollinator garden outside the Chester County Justice Center to add over 400 native plants and boost urban biodiversity. Volunteers will join the planting on Saturday, May 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.—a key part of the county’s Climate Action Plan for sustainable landscaping.  MyChesCo
