  • Twenty-three local restaurants and businesses have joined forces to support the Chester County Food Bank and the West Chester Food Cupboard after the Food Bank lost $250,000 in federal funding, a drive aimed at filling a critical gap in food supplies for vulnerable families — community members are encouraged to contribute at designated locations.  MyChesCo

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • SEPTA announced on Thursday that if the legislature does not pass Gov. Shapiro's proposal for increased state aid, most bus routes will be shortened and five Regional Rail lines will stop—resulting in a 45% reduction in service and a 21.5% fare hike—affecting many riders. This proposal may soon impact commuters in southeastern Pennsylvania.  The Philadelphia Inquirer
  • The Pennsylvania House approved H.B. 640 to boost yearly reporting by the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs. Introduced by Rep. Dan Williams, the bill will let lawmakers check program results+ target funds to fight substance misuse as the state Senate considers it.  MyChesCo
  • Legislation introduced by Rep. Chris Pielli to boost funding for fire and EMS services was approved by the Pennsylvania House Local Government Committee, allowing all second-class townships to raise their annual tax limits by local ordinances.
