- ➤ The Kennett Square Police Department announced that 20-year-old local man Ryan McGowan was arrested on April 9 for alleged child exploitation crimes on the 900 block of Cedarwood Avenue in West Chester—he faces multiple charges including unlawful contact with a minor and cyber harassment of a child—and the investigation remains active. - ➤ SEPTA announced it will cut 45% of its services starting Aug. 24 if it does not get the extra state funding — the changes will remove 32 bus routes, five rail lines and raise fares on Sept. 1, which could reduce weekday trips by 350,000. WFMZ-TV

Chris Pielli of Chester introduced House Bill 96 to let seniors and people with disabilities name someone to get alerts about unpaid property taxes—helping prevent home loss—after the bill was unanimously approved by the House Commerce Committee on Tuesday, April 8. - ➤ SEPTA unveiled its fiscal year 2026 budget proposal that will cut service by 45% if new funding is not secured, eliminating 56 bus routes and five rail lines + enforcing a 9 p.m. rail curfew starting in August.
