  • Chester County OIC invites community members to volunteer as tutors or class aides at its Adult Tutoring Program held at the Chester County Library’s Main Branch in Exton. Volunteers must be 18 or older with a high school diploma, commit three hours per week, and complete online training from the PA Department of Education — a program that helps support adult learners across the county.  VISTA Today

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Green Robin Homes—based in Chadds Ford Township and owned by Robin Bieber and Rob Nellius—is facing legal action after a homeowner sued for $660,000 over an unfinished modular home build. Another customer filed a suit alleging a breach of a 180-day contract, and the company appears to have closed its doors as locals are warned to be cautious.  6abc Philadelphia

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The USDA canceled the Chester County Food Bank’s TEFAP food order worth $250,000 on April 1—this cut took out items like cheese, pork chops, chicken breasts and eggs needed by families facing a cost-of-living crisis. The Food Bank warns that if the cuts continue it could lose up to $1 million in food supplies and urges locals to contact their lawmakers for help.  VISTA Today
  • The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission launched a free text messaging system that gives motorists real-time updates on unexpected traffic jams and roadway conditions. Drivers can text info to 47676 (using voice commands when safely stopped) to get location-specific updates every 15 to 20 minutes until the incident clears.  VISTA Today
  • Derek Slifer, Rules Instructor and Designated Supervisor of Locomotive Engineers at SEPTA, joins the 2025 VISTA NextGen Superstars—he has over 20 years of volunteer experience with West Chester Railroad. He will be honored with the class at the Awards Reception and Celebration on Thursday, May 8 at the Penn State Great Valley Conference Center.  VISTA Today
