  • Chester Countians will have a busy April—on April 4, Robin Roberts will speak with the WCU president with a Q&A, on April 5 Immaculata University will hold its fashion show in Malvern, and on April 6 West Chester will host the Brandywine Hills Point to Point race for charity.   • Pizza West Chester, opened in October by local brothers Speer and Joe Madanat, serves only plain and pepperoni pizzas made with high-quality ingredients. EDUCATION NEWS

  • West Chester University president R. Lorraine “Laurie” Bernotsky was inaugurated last week amid intense polarization and promised to improve student housing, repair deferred maintenance in campus buildings, and update the outdated stadium scoreboard—steps she will take as the college works to boost its educational offerings.   • PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll reminded Pennsylvanians to get a REAL ID by May 7 to avoid travel problems and noted that only about 26% of drivers have upgraded (2.6 million), while REAL ID Days are held at centers (e.g., King of Prussia, Norristown) to speed processing.  The Philadelphia Inquirer

  • Today, the prospective builder at the former Burger King site in West Chester updated plans to add 139 units and 175 parking spaces—an increase from the original 125 units and 170 parking spaces. Property owners Gary D. Saluti, Suzanne M. Dunphy, and equity owner High Street 410 said new borough parking rules may require more spots—which could force further changes to the project.  VISTA Today

  • West Chester University alumnus Jeff Cook officiated high school and collegiate wrestling for more than thirty years and will be inducted into the Pennsylvania chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame on April 27 — this honor recognizes his long career in the sport. A Hopewell native who once led his college baseball team to a title, Cook now mentors new wrestling officials after his retirement in 2018.  VISTA Today
