  • Chester County animal shelters received 12 dogs flown from Texas on March 17th — the volunteer pilots picked them up in Dallas and took them to Nashville — and the dogs now wait for their forever homes.  VISTA Today
  • Local officials and Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding joined at Milky Way Farm in Chester Springs where the Matthews Family was recognized as a Pennsylvania Century Farm for four generations of dedication to farming. Officials also celebrated the expansion of AgConnect—designed to support local agricultural businesses and workers—to keep farming strong in our region.  VISTA Today

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A house fire started just before 9 p.m. on March 17 on Evergreen Lane in Phoenixville when strong winds made firefighting efforts more difficult — firefighters later controlled the blaze and prevented injuries while displacing seven people.  6abc Philadelphia

CRIME NEWS

  • The West Whiteland Police Department issued a felony arrest warrant on March 12 for 49-year-old Damon Sterling, a retail theft suspect described as a white male about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes — police urge anyone with information to call 610 363 0200 — and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.  MyChesCo

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Chester County Economic Development Council and Penn State LaunchBoxes will host LionCage 2025 to boost innovation and support startups in southeastern Pennsylvania. The series will begin with regional sessions on March 26 and end with the final pitch on November 7 at Penn State Great Valley in Malvern.  VISTA Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • CCRES held a Staff Appreciation Day at the Child and Career Development Center on March 7, honoring 300 staff including teachers, personal care assistants, and registered behavioral therapists with a pizza party celebration — Bruce Tinor praised them for their strong commitment to supporting students with special needs.  VISTA Today

FINANCE NEWS

  • Brumbaugh Wealth Management is growing as it acquires new financial practices and seeks a new office space in Exton to keep up with rising demand. Founder Kim Brumbaugh said the firm will pursue a new merger in the Pittsburgh area this year and plans to buy three more practices in the next five years — one in Naples, Florida.  VISTA Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Medical cannabis companies spent $1.6 million lobbying lawmakers last year to shape the rules for a recreational market—Gov. Shapiro said legalization could bring $1.3 billion in revenue over the next five years as discussions continue.  The Philadelphia Inquirer

SPORTS NEWS

  • West Chester University Men’s Basketball has had a record-breaking season with wins rare in the team’s history and has now qualified for the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time since 2019. The team began with losses in November, won the PSAC East Regular Season Championship in February, and had two players earn First Team All-Conference honors + set a milestone season for the Golden Rams.  VISTA Today
