  • Chester County Food Bank is hosting a March Madness-style food drive where local banks & credit unions collect non-perishable food to fight hunger in the community. WSFS Bank, Citadel Credit Union, TruMark Financial Credit Union, Benchmark Federal Credit Union, and First Resource Bank are among the supporters joining the competition to help meet growing food needs.  VISTA Today

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Firstrust Bank promoted John McBride as Director of Business Banking and Beth Packel as Small Business Team Lead to support local businesses with personalized financial services — emphasizing in-house decisions and tailored solutions. Their new roles reinforce the bank's commitment to relationship banking amid a trend by larger banks to move away from personal service.  VISTA Today

CULTURE NEWS

  • Frank Herron, owner of Saloon 151 Whiskey Bar and Grill, will open Station 142, a live music venue in downtown West Chester in early April. The venue occupies the 4,000-square-foot former Serum Kitchen and Taphouse building and will hold local music shows on Fridays and Saturdays — its rooftop deck can host about 80 guests.  VISTA Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • West Chester University will welcome its 16th president, Dr. Laurie Bernotsky, at a formal ceremony on Mar. 28 at 11 AM at Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall—over 1,000 students, staff, alumni, and community partners will attend the investiture and weeklong celebrations. The events will highlight student leadership, research, and fundraising for scholarships to support the university's future.  VISTA Today
  • The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania and Education Law Center-PA sent a letter to school districts and charter schools saying that programs supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion are legal despite federal threats to cut funding. The letter warned that ending these programs might lead to lawsuits and noted that school curriculum is managed by local leaders (not federal officials).  WFMZ-TV
  • Church Farm School will host a Griffin Scholars Spring Luncheon on April 9 at noon in Alumni Hall (sponsored by WSFS Bank) where supporters can hear students explain their hands-on learning program. The event is one of two annual luncheons that help connect the community with the school’s unique curriculum.  VISTA Today
  • Immaculata University partnered with the Delaware County FOP to offer active and retired law enforcement officers plus first responders a 25 percent discount on graduate courses and a $405 per credit rate for adult professional undergraduate courses with waived application fees. The agreement was signed on campus on Mar. 7 to help these members advance their education through in-person, online, and hybrid programs.  VISTA Today
