  • Executive director Katie Duffus of Chester County Futures is named a Face of Philanthropy 2026 by the Philadelphia Business Journal for helping students access higher education and forging strong community partnerships in Chester County. CULTURE NEWS

  • Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square invites visitors to Garden Glow, a glowing nighttime event featuring illuminated bonsai trees and a 100-foot suspended dreamscape (by floral artist Jennifer Reed and Studio Roosegaarde) and biodegradable sparks. It runs Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. until March 8.  MyChesCo
  • A new book, Hungry for Home, chronicles how Ruth McKeaney and her husband revived a rundown hillside farm in Berwyn. Photographs by Megan Tidmore show its transformation into an oasis of family traditions and charm — it was published today.  VISTA Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • CCRES in Downingtown is hiring professional staff to support students and adults through behavioral health services in school settings. Positions for Personal Care Assistants, Behavior Consultants, and Behavior Analysts offer competitive pay and required credentials (details are available in the announcement).  VISTA Today
  • Ursinus College received a $1.99M NSF grant to launch the PERSIST STEM scholarship program for 24 low-income students starting fall 2026. The six-year program will provide financial aid and academic support to help students complete STEM degrees.  VISTA Today
  • Chester County OIC was named the nonprofit beneficiary of the 2026 VISTA NextGen Superstars program, strengthening adult education and workforce training across the region. CEO Javonna Wylie said the honor will help expand local partnerships to boost job opportunities for working families.  VISTA Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Litter Lifters, a group of 200 volunteers led by Beth Intoccia, are cleaning Chester County roads and public spaces today to reduce litter with help from local businesses & government leaders. Intoccia emphasizes proper waste disposal to protect wildlife and maintain residents’ quality of life.  VISTA Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Michelle Foster, CEO of MacElree Harvey, was appointed to the Board of the Chester County Bar Foundation to help improve community access to legal services. Her many years of leadership, from staff accountant to CEO, support the foundation’s goal of connecting citizens with the legal system.  VISTA Today
  • PennDOT will close lanes on westbound U.S. 30 (Coatesville Downingtown Bypass) starting today from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as crews repair pavement with additional work planned on March 1 and from March 4 to March 6; drivers should allow extra time for delays.  MyChesCo
  • Attorney General Dave Sunday met with community leaders in West Chester today to focus on expanding mental health resources and revising criminal justice programs — including early school counseling initiatives. Stakeholders emphasized the need for additional funding and policy adjustments.  WFMZ-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Feb. 25, the Chester County Health Department cited three local facilities — Glendale Dining, Govind Gasoline and Sweet Escape — for dish sanitization, plumbing and labeling violations. Staff were told to monitor temperatures and chemical levels daily, and residents can file a complaint if problems persist.  MyChesCo
