  • Longwood Gardens is hosting Garden Glow, a luminous event featuring glowing art and botanical installations that transform the space into a magical scene. It is on view Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 5 to 10 p.m. from Feb. 13 through Mar. 8 in Kennett Square (tickets required).  MyChesCo

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Yohaan Damani from Downingtown Middle School clinched the county spelling bee title by correctly spelling predecessor (P-R-E-D-E-C-E-S-S-O-R) during the contest held Feb. 11 at the Collegium Performing Arts Center; he will represent Chester County at the Scripps National Spelling Bee this spring.  MyChesCo

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting the week of Feb. 16, PennDOT crews will repair potholes on major state highways including U.S. 1, U.S. 30, and U.S. 202 during daytime hours + drivers should expect lane closures and adjust their travel plans accordingly.  MyChesCo
  • Presidents' Day is tomorrow, Feb. 16, and many local retail stores, restaurants, and pharmacies will be open while banks, schools, libraries, and USPS offices will close for the holiday; residents should verify local hours as needed.  FOX 29

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Feb. 13, health inspectors cited five food establishments in Chester County for violations like improper food temperatures and malfunctioning sanitizers. Affected restaurants in West Chester and surrounding areas must correct these issues immediately or within days to maintain their licenses.  MyChesCo

  • Shady Maple Smorgasbord in Lancaster and Andiario in West Chester are ranked among Pennsylvania's must-try restaurants by The Takeout.   • Toll Brothers paid $70 million for a 100-acre site along Swedesford Road to build a new age-restricted community for adults 55 and over near Exton Square Mall.
