  • Local music teacher Anthony Cracchiolo led his drumming students in an annual campaign that donated goods to the Coatesville VA Medical Center & raised $10,300 in support of local veterans throughout the holiday season.  VISTA Today

CULTURE NEWS

  • Longwood Gardens has introduced the Gardens by Day (and Night) ticket that lets visitors enter twice on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Mar. 27 through Oct. 25 for an extra $6, giving them time to see the gardens in daylight and then explore the illuminated landscapes later.  VISTA Today
  • Local artist Fred Jackson will open his exhibit at Church Street Gallery on Jan. 9, displaying oil paintings that capture West Chester's hidden alleys (a nod to his lifelong connection to the borough).  VISTA Today
  • Kennett Square photographer and filmmaker Robert Caputo (76) died on Dec. 18 after battling Alzheimer’s disease. He earned awards working with National Geographic and other outlets and left behind a legacy captured in his captivating images.  VISTA Today

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Electricians in Pennsylvania reported a median annual wage of $65,400, which is well above the all-worker median of $48,550. Demand for skilled electricians is expected to grow as new energy infrastructure expands (BLS data shows a projected 9.5% increase from 2024 to 2034).  WFMZ-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Chester County Futures hosted a college admissions session on Jan. 6 for high school students at its after-school program, featuring Dartmouth Admissions Officer Anthony Fosu who explained the process and shared tips on essays and deadlines.  VISTA Today

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health inspectors identified sanitation lapses and temperature control failures at several establishments Monday in Chester County — Burger King in London Grove Township and others must fix issues with food storage, equipment, and cleaning deficiencies.   • Residents in West Chester and nearby areas can enjoy acclaimed cheesesteaks from four local sandwich shops offering both traditional and innovative options (featuring homemade rolls and well-balanced meat and cheese).
